ASE's Service Mission

Throughout ASE’s 107 years of service to Michigan employers, a fundamental part of the Society‘s mission is to assist its members in attracting, retaining, and maximizing the value of their most important asset—their human resources.

The current economic slowdown in Michigan is producing a new and broader wave of employment displacement and transition, affecting all professional disciplines.

Career Transition Services from ASE

In response to the impact of downsizing in professional fields such as engineering, accounting, procurement, and marketing, ASE is providing new services and resources to give additional support to ASE members and their displaced professionals.

We are pleased to provide the Transitional Services described below. They will help displaced professionals both to improve their employment search skills and position themselves as superior candidates when meeting with prospective employers:
ASE’s Basic Program
  • ASE providesa full-day program starting with an orientation segment that addresses coping with job loss, mapping the job search, and networking skills. The remaining portions of the day’s classes focus on Resume Writing and Interviewing Skills.
  • ASE houses an Outplacement Tool Kit on its website. It gives participants access to an easy-to-use set of employment assistance resources.
  • ASE maintains an online resume board to which users may upload their resumes, and employers can access via the ASE website.
  • On a regular basis, ASE will send e-blasts and other communications to its members that will market these available and qualified candidates to them as well as to other potential employers.
Career Assistance Program

In addition to the Basic Program deliverables, this enhanced program provides the following:

  • A customized training program designed to enhance specific information and skill sets, such as Organizational Management, Business Writing, Communications, and much more
  • Up to three months of private career coaching. Additionally, follow-up coaching services can be purchased if desired.
  • Downsizing support for the firm itself, providing on-site collaborative services in managing the process and dealing with affected employees.

Transition Profile Coach

This is an individualized career assessment tool designed to identify career interests and potential career opportunities.

Summary

Supporting its members in maximizing the value of their human resource assets has always been part of ASE’s core mission. An extension of that mission is to provide meaningful support at affordable member cost to employees who are displaced during times of economic stress such as we are experiencing now. We sincerely believe these services and resources will be of value to ASE’s members during this period of economic transition.
